The great troubadour of traditional music, Stelios Bellos, has died
Not only a singer, but also a researcher of our traditional song, Stelios Bellos, left a void in Greek music, leaving yesterday, Monday, January 2.
Philologist and high school teacher in his life, but known throughout Greece as the singer of the folk song. He was born in Selliani Paramythia, Thesprotia, where he will be buried on January 4.
He studied traditional music with Tasos Chalkias and Giorgos Megas. His first album was released in 1958, and was titled "Asimoula". This was the beginning for Stelios Bellos, who subsequently recorded many songs and collaborated with great musicians: Tasos Chalkias, Petroloukas Chalkias, Napoleon Damos, Stavros and Grigoris Kapsalis, Vassilis and Vangelis Soukas, Thanasis Haligiannis, Vassilis Batzis, Filippos Rountas, Napoleon Zoumbas, Fotis Chalkias, Dimitris Zachos, Alekos Kitsakis, George Kurtis, Christos Fotiou, Savvas Siatras, Christos Panoutsos, Antonis Kyritsis, Vassilis Kolovos, Iota Vei, Emilia Hatzidaki, Eleni and Irene Konitopoulou, Chronis Aidonidis, Kariophyllis Doitsis Doitsides and Chrysos Vayas.
