He first appeared as a vocalist on the soundtrack of director S. Shankar's Tamil film Gentleman (), composed by his maternal uncle, A. R. Rahman. He has also contributed to some of Rahman's other projects.[11] He had also worked with Harris Jayaraj and sang two songs in Anniyan () and Unnale Unnale ().
G.V. Prakash's introduction as a film composer was in the critically acclaimed Tamil film Veyil () directed by Vasanthabalan and produced by director S. Shankar. His music in the film Madrasapattinam (), directed by A. L. Vijay was appreciated mainly for his song "Pookal Pookum Tharunam".
He went on to win critical acclaim for his music in Selvaraghavan's fantasy action adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan () and drama film Mayakkam Enna (), which became his third collaboration that featured Dhanush in the lead role. The album's five songs were written by Selvaraghavan and Dhanush, with the pair also coming together to sing the song "Kadhal En Kadhal". Madha Yaanai Koottam (transl.Herd of mad elephants) is a Indian Tamil languagethriller drama film written and directed by Vikram Sugumaran, a former assistant of Balu Mahendra and the dialogue writer of Aadukalam. The film, which is produced by G. V. Prakash Kumar, stars newcomer Kathir, along with Oviya.[1] The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by N. R. Raghunanthan, while Ragul Dharuman and Kishore Te. handled cinematography and editing, respectively. The film released on 25 December and was a sleeper hit at the box office.[2] It was dubbed into Hindi as Ravanpur.
Plot
[edit]The film revolves around the family of Jayakkodi Thevar (Muruganji), who has two wives. Jayakkodi is a respected landowner whose family has helped develop the village for generations. However, his first wife Sevanamma (Viji Chandrasekhar) and her elder brother Veera Thevar (Vela Ramamoorthy) control the local gangs and are feared by the villagers.
