    If you love Shawn Lane and Eric Johnson, you will certainly learn something from this lesson! This is a Shawn Lane/Eric Johnson pentatonic lesson that demonstrates a few different sequences.

    I like to use different sequences such as groupings of fives, sixes and combine groupings such as fours, fives and sixes going either up or down the pentatonic scale. All these ideas use two notes per string. There are many other ways that you could play these phrases by using three notes per string and economy picking, but I demonstrate the most common ways in this video.

    I failed to mention in the video that when going up the scale I use economy picking with hammer ons as this makes the groupings easier to play. When going down the scale, it is always alternate picking. I believe Shawn Lane may have used economy picking when going up the scale along with hammer ons. I know that going up all his notes were not picked but when going down they were. Accept when playing groupings of five.
